Dispatcher glossary
The terms below are used consistently throughout the Delivery & Dispatcher chapter.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Own Fleet / Own Drivers | Your restaurant's own delivery staff — delivery riders and, in some cases, kitchen staff who can also deliver |
| Third-Party Carrier | An external delivery provider (e.g. a courier platform) used when your own fleet isn't the best option |
| Priority Customers (Platinum) | An optional feature that gives certain orders — typically loyalty or VIP customers — a better chance of being delivered on time, without unfairly harming regular orders |
| PG Mode | A first-in-first-out (FIFO) assignment method: orders are assigned to the best available driver in the order they came in |
| Google OR-Tools | An advanced route-optimisation engine, normally used when there are more pending orders than available drivers, so routes can be planned more efficiently |
| Last-Option | A final, same-cycle safety net for orders that couldn't be placed by the normal process — see Last-Option: the final safety net |
| Idle | A driver with zero orders currently assigned |
| Waiting | A driver who has orders assigned but hasn't left the store yet |
| On The Way | A driver who has already left the store to deliver at least one order |
| At-Store Zone | Being within roughly 350 metres of the store — close enough to be treated as "at the store" for assignment purposes |
| Time To Branch | Estimated time for a driver to arrive back at the store |
| Time To Delivery | Estimated time for a driver to complete a delivery |
| Assignment Cycle / Run | One full execution of the algorithm across all your stores, triggered automatically on the schedule you define |
| Clubbing | Grouping more than one order onto the same driver or carrier for a single trip |
| Critical | An order that is still unassigned and already past its promised delivery time |
| Pending | An order that is still unassigned but not yet late |
